A Section Patrol officers came across this vehicle on their ANPR which flagged for their attention. The vehicle did not hold an insurance policy or MOT Test certificate. The vehicle was stopped compliantly and was identified the driver did not hold a valid licence to be on the road. The driver was reported for the relevant offences and the vehicle was seized under S165a Road Traffic Act 1988. More and more police vehicle have access to the ANPR network that we have in our area and will use this to our advantage to target illegal vehicles or assist in locating persons/vehicle of interest. A specialist Compound Insurance Policy will need to be taken out to retrieve the vehicle from the storage yard, on top of the seizure fee and daily storage fee. It costs almost twice as much for just a month as a normal policy does for a year. Not really cost effective in the grand scheme of things?!
